I have to bosses: the General Manager of the Company who is local, and the Project Manager who is from USA. Of course, 2nd one needs a driver who understands him. We could find such a driver, but he is too self-satisfied, and unfortunately he likes to talk non-stop. During trips to regions of the county when directors, chiefs, project managers seat at local tea-houses he never lets them to speak commenting on each word said.
There was another point. When the Project Manager leaves Azerbaijan to US suddenly this driver gets cold. May be he can’t live without him, who knows?! So the General Manager practically can’t use him at work. That is why he is not satisfied with him.
The greatest problem arises when driver is sick, but the Project Manager is in Baku. When it happens, Mr.Cox asks me to order a taxi for him with English-speaking driver. And at taxi companies, there is no option of English speaking drivers, they just understand approximately the words said. And sometimes Mr.Cox calls me furiously asking to translate where he wants to go.
One sunny and brilliant day this taxi service gave us a driver, whose name was Seimur, and that day Mr.Cox didn’t ringed my mobile phone and I was happy to see him satisfied. Every time ordering taxi for him I get mobile numbers of the drivers in order to be able to call them and write down it to my agenda. This way I can find notes of 2 years before.
Three days ago Mr.Cox came and said that Mahir, his driver had a running nose, that is why he would be absent for couple of days. I knew what he wanted; he wanted me to order a taxi for him. Then he went away and suddenly came back and added “You know Phoebe, I knew it was time for Mahir to get cold. It happens every 2 months” .As usual I did what was needed. After 20 minutes I saw my phone ringing. It was not difficult to guess who was on line.
- I can’t find the driver. No service is provided in Baku!! I don’t need them, I’ll catch another taxi.

I called the company and cancelled their services.
After an hour Mr.Cox was standing in front of me with childish looks. Easily, he can’t catch taxis every hour and pay them lots of money. He again wanted the taxi ordered. He added:
- Phoebe (then he looks to the ceiling and stops his actions for a minute), there was a guy (additional one minute in silence), Seimur. I want him as a driver, his English is good.

I called the Company, but unfortunately Seimur had left the Company. O my God, I said for myself, I had so many reports to be prepared and I was dealing with the cub! Unfortunately he had lost Seimur’s mobile number , but luckily I found it in my agenda.
At the end of working day brilliant idea came to Mr.Cox. He didn’t want Mahir work for him. He, father of two sons was led out and 25 years old young guy wrote his application to work today. Nowadays it’s difficult to find a good job in Baku and I’m sure Seimur is happy now. And all happened because of my agenda which keeps all the information. I felt guilty today because of it……..

Kiprida, it's just business. Nothing personal... Please don't feel guilty. It must have happened sooner or later as Mr Cox was dissatisfied anyway. And you'll have one problem less I hope ;-)

Hey,
I have similar king of story about (I called it) "Notes". Being a project architect in well known company, I used to work on many projects at sometime. So to keep track, I used to and still do notes in book by day and time. It includes phone conversation to verbal agreement on any project related discussion. It happens many time, client gives some decision or confirmation verbally which may not go to official records.
Once, one my client gave one confirmation verbally. He also said me that he does not need any confirmation on paper.
Letter construction stage, he faced a problem on his decision and started blaming to my company. I show my boss my notes. We made a copy of it and send it to our client. My company saved from bid hassles. I also consult our structural consultant and find out technical solution on current situation and provide all details to our client. Our client got impressed from my professional, calm and sincere approach to the problem. He is till client for the company and I did three big scale project with him after that event. :D
