Usage of Have and Has + P.P.? #1 (permalink) Sat Aug 08, 2009 23:19 pm   Usage of Have and Has + P.P.?

Hi , how r u ?

I wanna ask about the uses of have , has and had .
I learned in my study , that whenever the above words come it should be proceeded by a past participle verb , for example :

He have gotten his grade with excellent honor .

but when I hear some people talking I hear them saying and I quote :

" He has not become a millionaire " , why he used the present tense in become instead of using the P.P. tense " became " .

Thank you .

Have&Has + P.P.? #2 (permalink) Sun Aug 09, 2009 0:20 am   Have&Has + P.P.?

Hi Altayar

No, the p.p form of 'become' is 'become', not 'became'. So, the sentence "He hasn't become a millionaire" is right about grammar.
You can see many other verbs in English which their p.p forms of are like the present tense such as come, cut, hurt, read...
