ARE MISTAKES NECESSARY FOR DISCOVERY AND PROGRESS?
Is the speaker’s contention that man progresses is marked by the mistakes he makes, true? I strongly agree with the above said claim. “Practice makes a man perfect”, is an adage which bolsters the mentioned fact. Every individual can gain success in different realms of life, whether personal or professional, through his endeavors to be perfect. The admittance of learning from the past experiences and his ardent attitude of being more precise, impeccable, marks his success.
.”Freedom is not worth having if it does not have freedom to make mistakes”, is a famous quote by legend Mahatma Gandhi”. Learning from our mistakes continues through the entire life of humans. Consider a naïve child, who is trying to walk. Unless he falls and know that he has to be more balanced and surpass the obstacles in his way, he will never be able to walk independently. As we go to school for pursuing of careers, we face many challenges like passing difficult exams. When a student fails in exams, it gives him a chance of performing better and motivates him to repeat his past errors. Failures should be taken positively since they teach us that we should not loose self confidence. The determined and focused attitude helps us to overcome any hindrance in the path of our success. One appropriate example for the contention is the childhood of Thomas Edison. The great scholar surprisingly was considered as incredible asinine and intractable by his teachers. But the same person through his diligent hard work did remarkable inventions, for which he is remembered till date. As we grow young and become more social, we meet people with different viewpoints. We come across many circumstances in life where we feel victimized by our own relatives and friends. But the same betrayal teaches the ability to judge people and make better relationships in future.
In the field of scientific researches, every scholar has different theory to support his invention. Many times, a scientist theory comes under scrutiny, when others find empirical evidences totally controversial to his stated reasons. These researches take years to prove a concept, as everyone wants a concrete and logically reasoning behind any said fact. We strive to do perform better as we try and do errors. The same courage and determination makes us perfectionist in whatever we do. In the field of marketing, as a company launches a new product, the success of the product lies in the fact that people should like the product. As people uses a particular product, and points out the defects in it, then only the company tries to modifies the products overcoming the earlier shortcomings. Even when one of the IBM managers made a mistake, costing the company million dollars, he was once again given a chance by his manager to prove himself.
We cannot realize the true value of success unless we have gone through failures. Acceptances and correctness of errors enlighten us to pursue true knowledge. If we constantly fear of making mistaking, while doing new things, it will tap our creativity to explore our hidden potential and talents. Practicing helps us to realize our faults and updates our knowledge.
