Gone and been #2 (permalink) Sat Aug 15, 2009 11:35 am   Gone and been

I think

1.) I have gone to Sri Lanka.------> I am in Sri Lanka.--->now
2.) I have been to Sri Lanka. ------> I was in Sri Lanka.--->before

3.) I have been in Sri Lanka.-----> I am in Sri Lanka for days.--->for days (now)
4.) I had been in Sri Lanka.-----> I was in Sri Lanka for days.--->for days (before)

For example:

--Where is Jim?
--He has gone to England.
--My father isn't here.He has gone to England.

--My father has been to Sri Lanka twice.
--I have never been to Sri Lanka.

--I have been in Sri Lanka for three years.
--He has been in Sri Lanka for half a month.
