How will we use this idiom?

"Go the whole hog"

Is this sentence correct?

When John visits me I go the whole hog but he does not asks me even for a glass of water.

When John visits me I go the whole hog, but he does not even offer me a glass of water when I visit him.

Your idiom means that you spare no expense when entertaining your guests.
You are the perfect host. You offer all you can afford.
