Hi Torsen,
I think Skype is nice tool for socializing , but not necessarily effective for practicing or improving English. The key advantage, as you have mentioned of voice recorder over Skype is that you can hear your voice. For example by practicing here, I discovered that it's important to sound/speak naturally. When you try to read your text , it's difficult, but when you talk around your message, then it works.
What do you think. Also, please give me some feedback on my spoken English. I want to speak like a native speaker. That's my aggressively realistic goal.
Thanks a lot!

Hi Everybody,

I just wanted to chime in on the voice recorder versus Skype conversation. This is Tom Kane writing from the United States. Skype is certainly a good tool. However, when you are talking about learning something very specific - like English, being able to record yourself, and then hear yourself, the voice-recorder on the forum is a perfect tool.

Everyone on the forum can plainly see that the users in the forum not only all have the same goal, but most of us are from different parts of the world. It can be rather difficult to get Skype users together when we are all in different times zones.

Another major benefit of the voice recorder is that you can type your message and then record it. Being able to see your message enables others to help you both in writing English as well as speaking English. Skype doesn't allow you to do that.

Let me know if anyone has any thoughts.

Take care,

Tom

Hi There,

My name is Lez (24 years old) and I'm from Hungary.(East Europe) My biggest trouble is with speaking english, I have no access to speak in english each and every day. However I always read and watching films as far as possible. I have a few friends who are not hungarian but I'm not in touch with them in every day. I wouldn't like to loose my spoken english, that's why it would be cool to speak to foreigners. On the other hand It would be also great some cultural exchange, so just go ahead and drop me a line and let's get to know each other, firstly via email and afterwards on skype. Only advanced english speakers please. Drop me a line with your skype ID directly to my email address which is aural.impact@yahoo.co.uk

....

Hi..Silky...it is nice to hear your voice over the player but in my opinion you could have recorded more clearly with some more sound as you are being a telecom professional..

but I appreciate your interest in recording your voice and broadcasting it over the internet..

good way to practice our language skills..

have a nice and happy day every day..

..
