But strangely enough, people who learn English from English classes generally speak and write English much better than people who learn it completely on their own. I have seen some real autodidactic catastrophes among foreign learners of English.

How exactly do you learn English 'from English classes'? What you can learn from English classes is that you need to do a lot of work outside the course. For example, in a traditional English class you rarely hear two or more native speakers interacting with each other although this is essential to learning any language successfully. As for the autodidactic catastrophes, did you ask them what exactly they did in order to learn English?

Hi jemmy,
Thanks a lot to you for your feedback. I got what I was expecting. Let's not fight with words instead let's learn with each other exchanging the information back & forth. I totally agree with you, Alan, Torsten among other nice people here on this forum. I don't exaggerate and one thing I really accept the errors/ mistakes/ anger etc. as a treasure because they will lead me toward further development.
Thanks once again.

Hi Jemie,
I can pronounce these two words (staff & stuff) differently, in a different fashion, in many ways, and even in your style etc...
If there were no challengers there wouldn't be any champions? I am not afraid of any challenges put in from of me.

PS: I too, just like Mr. Alan, would like to hear how you say these words. Thank you anyway.

I am really impressed with Noren's comment "I don't exaggerate and one thing I really accept the errors/ mistakes/ anger etc. as a treasure because they will lead me toward further development."

It taught me that people make progress with what they don't have and with how well they know about what they don't have: not with what they have to look down upon people who have little.

A terrible debate finally ended in a peaceful atmosphere. I like this ending. However, I still wonder what the exact way of learning English properly is. With native speakers or knowledgeable local teachers with TESOL and MA degrees? Of course we ourselves decide the results either good or bad but we can't do anything well alone.

You can if you REALLY will: there is a will, there is a way. Sounds too trite? :-)

Hi Haihoa,
First of all, thank you so much for your feedback on what I've posted here on this Forum. No one is error-free, do you agree on this. I think you do, no doubt about this. And, there is a saying which I would like to quote here "There are no such things as strangers only the friends we have not met." Actually, from my point of view, we have to admit our mistakes and from that (correcting them) we can have useful information for future decisions and development. Thank you once again for being such an honest, trustworthy person.

Hi Noren,

Thank you for your message and I am really embarrassed a little with your kindest compliments.:-) But I am only a learner as everybody else on this site. I think we should first thank this site and the provider of it for the provision of so nice an opportunity and place for us to meet each other.

Talk to you again and all the best wishes,

Haihao
