In general, people are living longer now. Discuss the causes of this phenomenon. Use specific reasons and details to develop your essay.
We are very lucky to live in the twenty- first century in which the advent of medicine has provide(d) us with many cures, as well as the technology used to care for ill people. Today many people get to live to be 100 years old, in (a) few cases even older. This phenomenon has a big reliance on the way people live their daily lives.
Technology has (made) a big impact on the way we live our lives. People in general, especially older ones, take great advantage of this. For example, they exercise a lot more than they used to. Gyms are equipped with modern machines that are safe for the elderly to use in order to stay healthy, but they do not represent a danger to their bodies. Treadmills for instance, (are) like a walk in the park in which you can control the speed of it. This helps them stay safe, and avoid falls. Another consequence of people living longer is due to the choices they make every single day. As people mature they become more conscious of their health, and therefore, take measures to eat health(il)y. Have a diet which includes fruits, vegetables, meats, and grains. Also by taking vitamins that provides them with the calcium, or iron that their bodies are lacking.
However, not everything is really amazing about the amount of people living older. First it depends (on) where you live. (In) some countries the life expectancy is about 30 years old. This is due to poor health care, hunger, and poverty. If we take a look here at home, there are many elderly who suffer from abuse, not only from their relatives, but also from their carers who are suppose(d) to care, and protect them. Even though, it is fabulous that we can have our parents longer with us, (w)e have to think about the consequences that this has in our society. Many care centers ha(ve) to be built in order to provide a safe, and caring environment for the elderly. Therefore, the government has to take measures to make sure that these care centers are safe, and equipped with professionals who care about these people. Unfortunately, not all children take care of their aging parents, because they have their own family, or are unable to provide economically for them.
In conclusion, people are living longer, and we need to have a plan in order to address this issue. Maybe build senior centers that provide these people with a safe environment, or families should come up with a plan in order to care for their love(d) ones. It is great that we have the opportunity to meet our grand-parents, and their parents. However, we need to make sure that they are getting the care they need, otherwise, their long life will be consumed by pain and suffering. |
