I can't quite figure out when we should say 'very' and when 'very much' in constructions like:

I'm very / very much upset (disappointed, frustrated, etc.) about it.

Could you give me some clue or reference link?

Hi Pokemon,

You have already used 'very' to qualify 'much' and so you can't add it on to another word such as disappointed/frustrated. You simply say: I am very upset. If you want to strengthen that, you could say: I am extremely upset ...
