Hi there,

I was wondering which preposition should be used in the sentence:
"...to be a member at / on / in the Advisory Board......"

Thanks in advance,

Hi Hatcecik,

Usually someone is described as being a member 'on a board' 'on a committee' 'on a panel' 'on a council' and so on.

According to the CORPUS OF CONTEMPORARY AMERICAN ENGLISH and the BYU-BNC: BRITISH NATIONAL CORPUS the correct way is:

to be on the board
to be a member of the board
