Thanks for the link Tom. The explaination is great, although it doesn't mention the "you're not stupid" meaning of this idiom :) (Or maybe it does? There is by all means nothing stupid in having a casual conversation with attractive young lady ;) ) |

Hi,
I was just thinking if all these metaphorical expressions would sound fine in a speaking exercise of any advanced English exam. I guess when the situation comes you will be comfortable enough to say it, but one can also sound a little bit 'stupid' by saying this expressions in a conversation. Anyway I think it's a matter of trying and see what happens.
