Hi Torsten, on TOEIC Test W29 the first question is:

n. general expenses; manufacturing and business expenses

(a) cash
(b) border
(c) overhead
(d) layman

And on the answers it shows that the correct answer is (c) overhead I marked
(a) cash and my answer is incorrect.
Could you please explain why the correct one is (c) overhead

Hi Murtican,

Any dictionary will tell you that the word 'overhead' can mean 'general expenses'. Any dictionary will also tell you that the word 'overhead' doesn't mean 'cash'. All you need to do is google the word 'overhead' which takes about 10 seconds and you will get this: Overhead (business), the ongoing operating costs of running a business.

Those expenses are usually not paid in cash so the word 'cash' doesn't make sense here. Let me if this answers your questions.
