Hi,

The expression is get short shrift (no article). Originally shrift would be given by a priest in allowing you to be cleared of your sins. Today to get short shrift means to be treated in a very dismissive way as if you are unimportant. If you phone up a store where you've bought something and you want to complain about the service you get and no one takes any notice of your complaint and puts the phone down, you could be said to have got short shrift.

Hope this helps

Alan

Hello, Alan!

So, as far as I understood, in other words, "short shrift" means "lack of care or attention" or I simplified the whole thing? Smile

Thank you in advance.
