I am quite new here and this is my first post on the forum, so I will try to do my best and write a few words about myself. My name is Tomek. I am from Poland and I live in the second-largest city in the country, that is Łódź. Probably, not many people on the forum have ever heard about such a place. It is quite a nice city with lots of attractions to offer both to the residents and tourists. There is something for everybody, no matter what their age is. Young people spend a lot of time at pubs, clubs and discos. We have plenty of them and most of them are situated along our famous street, Piotrkoswka (famous to Poles of course, as I doubt if anybody in the world knows this street Smile ). There are also dozens of stores and shopping centers where hundreds of people do their shopping every day. In the evenings and at nights the street changes into a huge `light bulb`, because of many streetlights and neon signs on the walls of the buildings. But that is not all. We also have many beautiful parks where people walk, jog and relax themselves, so there is always something to do. However, there are still some areas in the city that are neglected and they simply do not look good but the situation is improving gradually. I think that in a few years the whole city will look nice and neat.

I started learning English when I was 6 years old, so it was a long time ago. I remember that everything started from a Polish cartoon magazine for children. There were always a few pages with cartoons in English. I liked them very much, because they were written in a simple language and I did not have problems with memorizing those words. I also remember that at the age of 7 or 8 I watched a Polish TV program, whose aim was to learn young kids English. It was really great, especially when I sat in front of the TV-set and repeated all the words and sentences that I had just heard from the lady on the screen.

Now I am trying to reconcile my work with my extramural studies, which is not that easy. But that is the life of a student Smile

So Torsten, I hope I have provided you with some basic information about myself which you have asked me for in your emails.

Best wishes and greetings from Poland Smile

Hi Daria:)

Thanks for your reply. Well, we may say that we are not too distant neighbors;) Quite frankly I do not use Skype, becasue in Poland we have other instant messaging programs, which are more popular than the one you mentioned.

If you have already dropped in here, maybe you would like to tell me something about yourself:)

Best Wishes:)

ok) I live in the capital of Belarus, practically in the center of Europe. I'm 17, this year I'm in my final class of high school, currently deciding what university to choose. I think my further education will be connected with arts management, because this is the thing I'm very found of. Myself, I play piano, I love photography and painting.
Must say, I really like your country, I've been there for dozens of times. My favorite place is Bialo Podlaska, a very small and quiet place, but it definitely has its own charm

Biała Podlaska is quite a long way away from me and I must say that I have never been there. Is this the only place in Poland that you have visited so far? I am sure there are many cozy spots which you would like to see and would be fond of. You seem to be very resolute if you have such serious plans for the future at such a young age. I hope that your dreams will come true. And one more thing, I am really impressed with your knowledge of English. As for your age you are using it as if you were a native speaker of this language.
Have a nice evening:)

wow, thank you for such nice words, must say, I like your English too:)
I've also been to Warsaw and Lublin, very beautiful places
By the way, it's quite embarrassing, but I read the name "Łódź" for the first time here. Didn't really know it was the second-largest city, thank you for telling

Well, I wouldn't say I'm resolute.. I'm finishing school this year, so I just have to know what to choose. Anyway, I can change my mind any time, I'm still not entirely sure..
