Hello Cate, I would use this phrase when inviting someone to accompany me to a meal.

"Please come with me, be my guest." (Meaning I would pay for the meal and any other "extras" that we might have.)

One might also say in reply to this request;

"By all means."
"Please, help yourself."
"Certainly,just take it."

how if you had cooked the meal yourself and wanted to invite the other person? Would you then substitute offer for guest? :roll:
