In your opinion, what are some important characteristics of a co-worker (someone you work closely with)?
Work is one of the places where we spend most of our time, therefore, we can say that our co-workers are like our second family. In order to realize the characteristics of a colleague we need to have a look at our characteristics first. To have a friend we need to be a friend, so if we want a good co-worker we should also be one for them. Honesty is crucial in any relationship, and in this type of relationship is not an exception. The base for any relationship to work is friendship. I personally believe that a good co-worker is the person you can count on in the job, who is reliable, caring, and finally understanding.
Leaving your problems at home when you go to work is the best possible solution in order to have a good day at work. Just like you should leave your problems at work when you go home. Sometimes this is not possible, and your personal problems get on the way of your job, the way you respond, and act towards others. Life is very complicated but a good co- worker will change his/her attitude, and forget about anything bothering them when they are at work. The reason for this is that not only they will feel unhappy, the situation will make others around them feel uncomfortable. On the other hand, we all need a friend at some point in our lives, that's where friendship comes in. If you are able to make friends at work, you will have someone to rely on. Not judging others for the way they look is very important quality in every human being. Just like that expression that says “ Never judge a book by its cover” We should give a chance to everyone in order to understand them better. Being able to get alone with everyone regardless of how difficult some of them might be, is an important characteristic that a colleague should possess. Getting along with others simply boils down to personality. When you can understand and recognize other personality types other than your own, getting alone becomes much easier. We may not get it right the first try, but once we learn more about that person, there will be no problems.
To sum up, co-workers are important people with whom we spend most of our days, therefore, we should make sure we have a good relationship with them. I think that if co-workers become friends they would enjoy their jobs a lot more. There would be a better implementation of team work, in addition to an environment that is more favorable for everyone. _________________ Yamilet |
