He looked at himself in the wardrobe mirror.
His eyes were filled with sadness.
He was sad that she was leaving, yet he knew not why.
He'd always been faithful, only ever loving her, surely no-one could love her more than he, yet she was leaving.
There was nothing that he could do to change her mind.

She had called for a taxi to take her to the station.
He stood in the bedroom doorway and heard her thank the taxi-operator.
Five minutes. Five minutes and she would be gone, and he would have to accept that.

If only he could think of one action that would make her change her mind.
Any action that would make her take him into her arms and allow him to kiss her wonderful face once again, but he knew his pleas would now fall on deaf-ears.
She was going and that was that!

She stood in the open doorway looking up the street for the taxi.
He came slowly, ever so slowly, down the stairs.
He moved quietly for he didn't wish for her to notice him.
His eyes were filled with tears.
He loved her so very much.
He would willingly give his very life for her, yet she was leaving

He heard the sound of the approaching taxi, and watched in silence as she shrugged into her coat.

He rushed down the last of the stairs in the forlorn hope that she just might change her mind and stay.

At the sound of his presence she turned and looked at him.
Her eyes were still filled with love for him.
She smiled her wondeful smile and ran her fingers through his hair.
With that she closed the door and entered the
waiting taxi.
It roared off into the distance.

He walked into the sitting room and sat on the sofa.
He closed his eyes and slowly he fell into a deep sleep.

He was awakened by the sound of the key turning in the front-door lock.
He walked into the hall. She stood there smiling at him.

"Hello Sam my darling." She knelt and wrapped her arms around him.

He wagged his tail happily. Mammy was home again.

Lool ...Mammy Smile

"He was sad that she was leaving, yet he knew not why. "- Kitos, can you explain 'knew not' ? I understand, it means he didn't know. But when can it be used in 'knew not' form? Is it informal speech?

Dear Phoebe, I cannot explain.

I just write the words as they come into my head.

I know they are right at that point.

Just allow the words to flow. The words will take care of themselves.

I'm not a real writer or author in any regard. I simply amuse myself, and hopefully some others like your good self.

Thanks Michael, I am happy just to find someone who takes the time to post a comment.

Sometimes I do think that animals have a command of telepathy. Wish I did.

hey Bill, (If I remeber your civil name right and am allowed to call you so)

that telepathy thing by dogs is history from what I heard on the radio quite recently. The Japanese have developped a translator for doggish voices and chats. I mean they can translate the bark-sounds into japanese. You just have to learn Japanese. Laughing (I wonder if the European dogs mustnīt , too?).

And whatīs more, sometimes I feel it would help if one was able to translate the human orders into "Doggish"!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So that dogs better can obey their keepers orders. Laughing
