TOEFL essay: If you could change one important thing about your hometown... #1 (permalink) Sat Sep 05, 2009 14:44 pm   TOEFL essay: If you could change one important thing about your hometown...

If you could change one important thing about your hometown, what would you change? Use reasons and specific examples to support your answer.

If some day, I have the opportunity to change something in my hometown, I will choose the quality of the road.

There are very nice things at my hometown, for example we have many plants on every house, a good number of parks, and the people are very well educated.

Sadly, there is one aspect that I want to improve, and this aspect is the road. On every road there are many holes, because of the poor quality of the road material.
When we go in a car, it’s very difficult to not pass into the hole, and get damage. In some cases, when I try to evade a hole, just another car is in the other side of the street and there is a chance to impact them.

If we can do many great things, like schools, parks, buildings, with excellent quality, why we cannot make the same with our streets? The reason for this problem, are many, but the most important is the corruption in the politic. When the politics have to choose a system to construct a road, they first find the cheapest way, and then pay a high price, making the worst deal for the common people.

In conclusion, we as society could be have a better road, as we can have better leaders.
