Preparing for a speech #1 (permalink) Tue Sep 08, 2009 14:41 pm   Preparing for a speech

Hi everybody Smile

My son was asked to give a speech in English by his teacher. He chose "friends" as topic. He is in senior high school first grade.
It would be nice to get some ideas on how to prepare for this speech keeping in mind that his level is beginner-intermediate and English ain't his mother language.
Any help would be welcome,

Thanks in advance,

mdenglish Smile

Hi MdEnglish,

Please ask your son the following questions (in your native language):
Who is your best friend?
Why is he/she your best friend?
What do you like doing with your friends and why?
How many friends do you have?

It's important that your son gets a clear picture of what exactly he wants to say. Once he has spent some time on thinking about friends, relationships, trust and friendship it'll be much easier for him to structure and express his thoughts.

Let's see what our english-test.net friends have to say on this Wink...

I couldn't agree more. I do believe that these questions are top priorities for contemplating before a speech like that.
since majority of us are not talkative, we always have nothing to say even in our native language let alone in another one. especially when we have got to talk about our personal feeling or life. whether it is because of shy or weakness in language. It would be helpful to think about it before...
This question would bring a hot topic;I'm looking for other member's comments.
