Nowadays, food has become easier to prepare. Has this change improved the way people live? Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.

Recent technological achievements have changed people’s lives radically. Food, as one very important aspect of the everyday life, has changed too. Nowadays there a lot of new kinds of food, people have the opportunity to try different cuisines from all around the world and last but not least – today it is only a matter of minutes to prepare food.

To begin with, today there are a lot of new kinds of food – fast food, junk food, chips, diet coke and so on. As an illustration I would say that for my grandma ketchup is a new thing because when she was young there was no such thing. Most of these new sorts of food can be unhealthy but they are commonly liked and eaten. People have the chance to taste them only because of the fast development of the technology.

To continue, because today people travel easily and can communicate with people form other countries without big difficulties, the countries’ cuisines have interacted and exchanged different flavours and dishes. For example, I enjoy eating Chinese food – there many Chinese restaurants in my country and I am really aware of what people in China eat. In this way eating can be even exciting.

Last but not least, nowadays owing to inventions such as the microwave, people can prepare their food only for minutes. Also, there are preserved foods and people do not even have to cook, they just have to turn the oven on. This is fantastic when you think about that the people who live in 19th century for example have to spend all day in order to prepare their meals.

To conclude, nowadays people may live unhealthy but they do not spend a lot of time about what they are going to eat and have the chance to experience new things, flavours and emotions. This is way I can say that the change is in a positive way.
