This is Steve Mort's voice from VOA. Actually, I'm not sure where he is from. He is a professional reporter who works in the U.S., but his accent is like English or something. Strong [a] sound.. and [r] doesn't sound much. What do you think?

Thanks,

He clearly is British and there is absolutely nothing unusual or strange about his accent. You need a little more exposure to authentic spoken English than the standard North American accent if you want to learn the language.

Hi SP,

I would say that Steve Mort is a good example of how your accent changes when you live and work with people in another country because you are influenced by the way they speak. I can hear this with the slightly more elongated way he pronounces these words: every - Brazil - gasoline ethanol makes sense. In British English the words would be pronounced in shorter sounds.

Thank you for your attention. It's very interesting! I've heard that the British accent is similar to Australian or New Zealnd's and I want to hear them, too. :)
