Welcome Amaranth,
Nice to meet you, I am also a full-time working mother and finally able to go back to my studies to the biggest vision I desired a long time. I have a Bachlor's Degree in Linguistics and now I am attending a professional studies in MS with Major in English in Public Administration. I get it quite difficult but I am giving my best as I can, because I really need to do something for my future carrier! I am here to improve my English, writing and speaking skills.
I am nervous too, because many times I cannot present, to put forward my opinions in English; my native language is Turkish, in most of situations I am thinking in Turkish and at the same time I am translating myself, but this not the proper way, because those two languages are different and has not anything common. The syntax, grammer, language structure...everything is different. They belong to the different group of languages anyway!
So, I think that I need to think, and to talk in English!...so this is the reason being here, to improve my English speaking skills!

C.U.,
Thank you for your welcome note. Congratulations to you for going back to school through all that. I know it's not easy. But as they say, "What is worth the prize is worth the fight".
Linguistics is one area I have toyed with. I would like to learn more about it, and what I would be able to do with it. I had thought of perhaps making it my minor.
Do not be nervous, you will do very well I'm sure. You obviously have the drive and desire you need to get there. The rest will all come together. I do understand your language barrier. My first language was French. It just so happens I find English an easier language to express myself in, this one just came naturally to me, and so I have made it my field of study. From what I can see now, your grasp for the English language is quite good. You will have it all down pat in no time at all. It must be hard to do your translation between those two languages. I am lucky in that the three languages I know so far, are quite similar in those respects.
If I can be of any help to you please let me know. Keep up the good work.
