Some people think that the Earth is being harmed by human activity. Others feel that human activity makes the Earth a better place to live. What is your opinion? Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.

We are not alone on Earth. There are also animals and plants, habitats that were here before humans and have been destroyed by them. Although there are good reasons to think that human activity makes the Earth a better place, I strongly believe that human activity harms the Earth.

In the first place, industry and transportation expanded rapidly in the twentieth century. Cars were designed to be cheaper, affordable for most of the people. Factories were built as a result of increased demand of products. Radio nuclear powers have been constructed as a cheaper source of energy. As a result of all of these, a higher degree of pollution had appeared. The ozone layer in the atmosphere is thinner, at some points it misses completely and the consequence is that more of the solar radiation arrives at the Earth surface. The climate is warmer and the polar ice started to melt.

In the second place, the increase in population makes the need of new building mandatory. The borders of towns are continually extending in the detriment of the natural habitats that lived before there. Species of animals have gone extinct, others are endangered of extinction. At one point it can be dangerous also for humans. It is well known the example of the snakes that attacked several people in an area of new buildings; it seems that there was the natural habitat of the snakes, and for them, human was an intruder.

In the third place, the presence of some exotic animals, made possible by humans, in other habitats can be a danger for the local fauna. It can make some natural habitants to disappear. An example is the inhabitation of Australia with rabbits. It seems that everything started when few rabbits were brought from Europe because someone wanted to have them for hunting. They did not have any obstacle in their way and they proliferated so much that they became a big problem. Moreover, they transformed some places full of grass in deserts.

To summarize, the state of Earth is the legacy that previous generations left for us and we have to do all our best to maintain it or to improve it for the future generations.

I'm remembering what the great Chief of an indian tribe said: "We are part of the earth and it is part of us. The perfumed flowers are our sisters: the deer, the horse and the great eagle are our brothers: the rocky crests, the juice on the meadows, the body heat of the pony, and the man - all belong to the same family"

"The air is precious to the red man, the air shares it spirit with the life it supports. The wind that gave our grandfather his first breath also receive is last sigh."

I think these words could match with your essay...

Hello little friend.

Your essays are getting better, but I would suggest that you fire your imagination with a little more reading.

The biggest mistake is to write too many essays and when the "big day" rolls around you find yourself out of ideas.

Do not rush into print, rather think about your writing and refine it in your head.

Write it down, and read it several times, then scrap it and write it better.

Keep it short and VERY interesting. Avoid the "big words", because they impress no-one but yourself, especially if you should use them in the wrong context.

You are doing very well little lady. Give yourself some rest, and read, read, read.

You'll resume refreshed and full of new ideas.

Kitos.
