Day shift vs Night shift vs Mid day shift? #1 (permalink) Fri Sep 11, 2009 21:11 pm   Day shift vs Night shift vs Mid day shift?

Here is my question, what will you call it between day shift and night shift?

Day shift: am 8:00- pm 4:00
Night shift: pm 8:00-
what about pm12:00- pm 8:00?

Thank you in advance.

Day Shift -->?-->night shift Mid day shift? #2 (permalink) Sat Sep 12, 2009 1:38 am   Day Shift -->?-->night shift Mid day shift?

I'd call it the 'afternoon shift', I think. There is also the 'swing shift', but that is 4 pm to midnight.

(PS: Be careful of the word 'midday'-- it is a bit inflammatory here at English-test.net! For many people it refers to precisely noon only.)
