"think of" vs "think about" #1 (permalink) Mon Sep 14, 2009 5:21 am   "think of" vs "think about"

Hi buddies,

As far as I know that [think of] to use for something new, like 'make up' or 'invent', but [think about' to use for something existed. Am I correct.

Please help to clarify the difference between [think of] and [think about] in advanced.

Please also help on the following question:

Quote:
A: What do you [.....] my new car? B: It’s great. How much was it?
[A] think for
[B] think about -> based on my understanding above, I voted for this one. But the correct answer is [C].
[C] think of

Thank you very much!
Hieu.

[think of] vs [think about] -- please advice the difference... #2 (permalink) Mon Sep 14, 2009 7:59 am   [think of] vs [think about] -- please advice the difference...

Hi,

'Think of' often has the idea of expressing an opinion when used as a question: What do you think of my new car? = What is your opinion of my new car?

'Think about' suggests giving consideration to when used as a question: What do you think about my idea of buying a new car?
