"couldn't get to sleep" or "couldn’t sleep"?

What’s the difference between “couldn't get to sleep” and “couldn’t sleep”?

Hi,

'Get to sleep' describes the process of going to sleep. 'I couldn't sleep' simply states the fact that you were unable to sleep as, for example, the neighbours were making too much noise.
