That's all correct, except that you should say "named after", not "from". You can say "the name is taken from xxx" but that is often when it has been modified from the original name.
The last one is a little 'tricky': if it was a bar you would normally say, "the Jack and Jill", but if it is a shop you would normally leave out the definite article: "I'm trying to find my way to Jack and Jill". |

From Englishclub.com: We do not normally use "the" for shops, banks, hotels etc named after a founder or other person (with -'s or -s).
So there should be "the" if they don't have any "s"? (Or do they mean: Don't use "the" on shops, banks, hotels named after a founder or other person whether there's "s" after their name or not"?
Here are some no "s" examples I just came up with: - I just went to the Barclay Bank (if that name exist) - I heard the Hush Nightclub is the best club in Houston. (Though I'm not very sure if that Hush is named from a person or from something) - I'm trying to find my way to the Jack and Jill. (A shop named Jack and Jill)
Are there any errors? |
Take your time, baby. Otherwise, you would perhaps be incapacitated by the intense pressure on yourself one day. Here is one cathartic adage "Rome was not built in a day." _________________ Love love love love co-co-nuts, I I I I Island. |

What is correct though: - "I'm not very sure if that Hush is named after a person or after something..." OR - "I'm not very sure if that Hush is named after a person or something..."? _________________ please correct any errors you see on my writings on: nouns, tenses

I'd probably say: "I'm not sure if 'The Hush' is (or was) named after a person or a thing", or simply: "I'm not sure what 'The Hush' was named after".
The word 'very' tends to be over-used in English, and is often best left out. |
