Subjunctive vs. indicative? (everyone take vs. everyone takes) #1 (permalink) Tue Sep 22, 2009 9:26 am   Subjunctive vs. indicative? (everyone take vs. everyone takes)

Both seem to be in use, but which is correct....

"It is important that everyone TAKE the chance and make the best of it."

or

"It is important that everyone TAKES the chance and make the best of it."

Thanks in advance for any help.

Both are acceptable with one being the subjunctive (take) and the other the indicative (simple present, 'takes').
