Would you mind if i closed the window?

'Would' is not past; it is the present conditional II (as is 'closed'). It is a polite form. I see no particular pronunciation problem. Its appropriateness cannot be judged without a context, but it is polite. Because the request is cast in a negative aspect, the response often confuses native speakers more than it does learners. If it is OK to close the window, the appropriate response is 'No, of course not!'

Would you MIND if I CLOSED the WINdow?

Primary stress is on 'window', secondary stress is on 'mind' and 'closed'.
