Hi guys,

may I have a question about this obviously slangy phrase? What does it mean when I call someone "cranky balls"? What's the best synonymum to it?

Example:
Aren’t you a cranky balls today. Remember when Carter ran he was ahead by as much as 30 points and won by only a razor thin margin, and Clinton was ahead by over 15-20 percent yet won by only a 9 percent margin. Obama might win, but not by a comfortable margin. This is going to be 2000 all over again.

thanks a lot in advance

I think it just means "cranky". I have never heard of it, nor have some young Americans I asked. There is the expression "cranky bird", which just means a cranky person, irritable.

Hello Peacemaker,

I'm not familiar with the expression "cranky balls" either. Like Cerberus, I would assume it simply means "a cranky, irritable person".

Just an added note:
I suspect that the expression "cranky bird" must be more British than American because that's not a common expression in my neck of the woods (US) either.
