| I think it just means "cranky". I have never heard of it, nor have some young Americans I asked. There is the expression "cranky bird", which just means a cranky person, irritable. |

Hello Peacemaker,
I'm not familiar with the expression "cranky balls" either. Like Cerberus, I would assume it simply means "a cranky, irritable person".
Just an added note: I suspect that the expression "cranky bird" must be more British than American because that's not a common expression in my neck of the woods (US) either.
