Hi! Can someone help me! I don't know if these two sentences are correct:

Jonh went to the movie last night and so did James.
Or
Jonh went to the movie last night and so went James.

Can we use both? why? Can we use did to give it more emphase or do we make an inversion of the subject and use went? Thnak you so much for your help!!

Auxiliary verb should be used in the sentence with "too" and "so".

The 1st is correct.
