Getting a college or university degree requires selecting a major. Some college students know exactly what they want to do, but many are unsure. An uncertain college student (might have/will have)has a more difficult time(for)selecting a major. There are different criteria for selection of various major in every country. As far as I think the main thing is that what is your knowledge or level of understanding on that subject?(as fa as I know(as far as I am concerned, In my opinion), the crucial factor for choosing a major is that what your interest or understanding level is.)[b]Have you explored and learned regarding to choose your major.[b](have you ever explored what you should choose for your major regarding of sth(your interests and abilities) Even there are many good reasons for either choice. However in my opinion it will be better if a universities allows student to declare their major only after sophomore year.
First of all, I would like to give some disadvantages regarding to declare their majors in first year. Students try to explore regarding different majors according to their interest and goal. At that time they do not have any deep level knowledge about different subjects. Even (Even if)they knew what major is good as career point of view, college placement point of view What they had explored or learned, who will take the guarantee of that they will find it equally interesting.(?) Even some time after they had chosen it they find it hard and wants to change. So there is no harm it student will declare it after first year.(There is no harm in declaring the major after the first year/ so there is no harm if students...)
In addition to that declaring your majors only after first year, student finds it very good policy. It is totally in favor of students. In this case students have flexibility to declare their majors. As you come up with topics you’re interested in and take a class on some subjects. This is the perfect way to familiarize yourself with the major and to see if you have enough of an interest in it to pursue for the remainder of your college career and into your professional career. First year courses are the perfect place to feel out majors to see if they are right for you. In that case they don’t have doubt.(This way, they won't be regretful) Student will be more confident regarding their selection. They will think about it patiently. So In all possibility they will reach on right decision.
To conclude, it would be best idea if a college or universities allow students to declare their majors only after sophomore year. In brief this is a big decision (momentous decision) that will shape your college experience, the career that follows and your life in general. In fact, it can be quite a complicated decision that requires serious thought and consideration. By allowing students to declare their majors only after sophomore year (they)can make their life (a)little bit easier and smooth. |
