Hi,

1: why do we have to write 'No.' when we abbreviate ''Number'' as there's no ''o'' in ''Number''?

2: ''Thank you for apprising me of your children ages!'' correct?

3: "Apprise me of your age now." correct?

Hi,

1: why do we have to write 'No.' when we abbreviate ''Number'' as there's no ''o'' in ''Number''? It comes from Latin "numero" ("in the number"), the ablative of "numerus" (number). It was often used thus in enumerations.

2: ''Thank you for apprising me of your children ages!'' correct? You should add ['s] to "children"; besides that, "apprising" sounds a bit formal to me. Why not simply "thank you for giving/telling me your children's ages", or "thank you for informing me of ..." (somewhat more formal).

3: "Apprise me of your age now." correct? Same as the above. In addition, an imperative without "please" is not very polite.
