Sentences: I immigrated to ABC country with my parents when I was around 8. #1 (permalink) Wed Sep 30, 2009 11:54 am   Sentences: I immigrated to ABC country with my parents when I was around 8.

Hi all,

I was talking to my classmates, and they wanted to know more about me,
so I told them:
I immigrated to ABC country with my parents when I was around 8...

And on the way home after school, I was thinking
if there is any difference between these two sentences:

(1): I immigrated to ABC country with my parents when I was around 8.
(2): I immigrated to ABC country when I was around 8.

Could you help please?

Thanks

Kitty

You are an immigrant. You migrated to this country when you were eight years old.

Thanks Kitosdad.

Could you tell me if there's any difference in the meaning between statements (A) and (B)?

(A): I migrated to this country when I was eight years old.
(B): I immigrated to this country when I was eight years old.

Yes, the second sentence is grammatically incorrect.

You emigrate from a country.
You migrate to a country.
You are an immigrant of the new country.
