Beer cannot be classified as liquor? #1 (permalink) Thu Oct 01, 2009 3:32 am   Beer cannot be classified as liquor?

Hello,

We (Koreans) are taught liqure is same as alcohol. I checked dictionary today and I found out it means strong alcoholic drinks. Then, how about beer? Beer is not strong as much as vodka, of course. Then beer is a soft alcoholic drinks? In general, beer cannot be classified as liquor? If so, what is beer's category? Soft drinks? What do you think?

Thanks,
sweetpumpkin

Liquor has (at least) two senses:
1. Any alcoholic beverage, including beer.
2. A strong, distilled alcoholic beverage (most common in America), also known as spirits.
