Dear Moderators and other members,
Just now, I've come up with the idea to build up a formal speaking room in this forum. Please kindly review its following details and contribute more ideas on it.
1. Let's create a new folder under "ELS Forums", says "Formal Speaking Room" or whatever you think it's better, where the English learners around the world (of course he/she has to be a regular member of this forum) could put any topics they would like to talk about. By this way, people can give the answers anytime they want, thanks to the incredible recording function of this forum!
2. What kind of topics would be posted? They would be the arguments, any social topics, socioeconomic problems... It's great if they are writing/speaking TOEFL topics, that the learners can both improve writing skills (when he/she tries to write down the complete ideas/essays for the given topic) as well as speaking skills (when he/she tries to read aloud what he/she just wrote down). By this approach, he/she can review and find out any mistakes themselves and correct if any...
3. How to contribute the arguments for the given topics? If you are a member of this forum, surely you can give the answers whenever you want to. Well, I keep saying the basic thing that everyone would know! He/she can give an independent answer for the selected subject or continue to argue what has been said by another members, meaning that he/she might not totally agree what other members thought about the subject. Of course, he/she should use the "quote" function to make sure the target person knows.
It would be better if any post items will be reviewed by the moderators, English experts in this forum to give some advices/comments for the answers! The most important thing for the English learners is that how to pronounce the words correctly with the appropriate intonation.
4. Other concerns It would be wonderful if the one who is giving the topic would suggest some good vocabularies that would be used in the arguments, so that other members would improve their range of vocabulary as well.
Well, that's all I can give in this moment. How do you think about it?
Sorry that I could not record this idea since I don't have a microphone around. I'm sure I will it as soon as I have one.
Hope to hear from you guys soon. _________________ Thank you very much,
Hieu Phan.
