Hi, I took the GRE general test this morning, and my scores weren't very good. My verbal was higher than average, but not significantly, and my quantitative was quite poor--well below average. I don't have my analytical writing scores back yet, but I believe I did fairly well on that section. I'm planning on going into an English composition program, and I've heard they don't take quant scores into consideration. However, my low quant score makes my overall score low, and my verbal isn't high enough to make up for it. My undergraduate gpa is a 3.8, I'm in the honors program at my school, I tutored all 4 years, I had leadership roles in several student organizations and honors societies, and I am currently doing an internship. Do you think my mediocre GRE scores will do a lot of damage to my chances at admission to a decent grad program? I don't have the money or the time to take the GRE again--I can't get off work! And this time already broke the bank. So I'm hoping this won't be a huge problem. Any words of advice? |
