Hi Dera fellows,
I would be grateful if you could help me find the most suitable answers (between the brakets)to these questions that I came accross in a test. Idid them without any degree of certainty. Thanks! Bachir Maiga

2 ) You can’t (turn up, raise, make, bring) yourself to refuse the child’s request.
3) Doves were covered with scent to sprinkle when they fly over the heads of those below with (drips, drops, spots, spits).

The warm and starry night (creates, forms, builds) different atmosphere. Music is (subject, liable, adapted) to different acoustic, and voices vibrations are (transmitted, conducted, guided) from machines to the eardrum.

We would like you to decide the most suitable answers, since this is, in some form, your homework. We will then check your efforts.

Hi Dear Mister Micawber,

Thank you for your answer! Actually those questions that I've chosen among 50 others are not my homework. I came across them in my Uni entry test and I answered without any degree of certainty. Anyway, here you are my answers between brackets:

1) The police are ( investigating) into disappearance of several paintings.
2) You can’t ( bring) yourself to refuse the child’s request.
3) Doves were covered with scent to sprinkle when they fly over the heads of those below with (drops).
4) Scent was very important when people were reluctant to bath. In the MS book there were (prescriptions) for medicinal mixtures. Scent was used to (combat) bad breath.
5) The doctor to the patient: your diet is (lacking) in calcium.
6) Owning offices on skyscrapers is economical. It’s more (efficient) to have all the employees within easy reach.
7) Young people like music, particularly when it’s performed outdoors. Outdoors (circumstances) are less formal and restrictive for the listeners. The warm and starry night (creates) different atmosphere. Music is (subject) to different acoustic, and voices vibrations are (transmitted) from machines to the eardrum.
8) In this field of science you must (stand) open to new ideas.
9) The information and views in the documentary are open to (question).

Many thanks
Maiga

7) Outdoors (circumstances) are less formal and restrictive for the listeners.

8 ) In this field of science you must (stand) open to new ideas.
