It is always an individual who is the impetus for innovation; the details may be worked out by a team, but true innovation results from the enterprise and unique perception of an individual
It is truly stated that an individual ignites or inchoate a new idea and then it is further enhanced by the ideas of the team members and served as a whole new concept in a more presentable and finished way. But considering this is the case always will not be apt, because there may be certain situations when more than a single member can come up with the same idea and that can also result in an innovation.
Let us take a plunge into examples substantiating the issue, consider for example sometimes more than a single individual contributes equally to an innovation for example Wright Brothers invented the Airplane. The innovation of Airplane cannot be credited to a single person because both contributed equally to its construction. Another example where Marie Curie discovered Radium along with her partner, this may be a unique perception of Marie but it is always regarded as their combined invention. Hence the issue which is stated may be true in certain scenarios but can also be amigous in others.
Lets look at some business scenarios like Software firms and other industries, For example in Google its a policy that employees should spend 6% of their time to create something new and fresh. Now this idea came into existence in a group meeting , where an individual came up with this idea and presented it to the team, thereafter it was a team effort to make this unique perception of the employee work and finished to an end level. There may be certain rules and ethics applied to this idea and then it became a policy of Google which was later being termed as a team effort and credited to the whole team.
Similarly there can be several examples quoted to support the issue. But the statement solely depends upon the nature of innovation, kind of industry for which innovation is made and the modification of the unique idea which turned it into a universal phenomenon or policy. Hence it is according to individual how he formulates his unique ideas and present them to the team or enterprise it on his/her own. |
