1- as a noun:
sttempt: an act of trying to do sth, especially sth difficult, often with no success:Two factories were closed in an attempt to cut costs.
experiment:a scientific test that is carried out in order to study what happens and to gain new knowledge:
to do / perform / carry out / conduct an experiment.
2-as a verb:
attempt:to make an effort or try to do sth, especially sth difficult: I will attempt to answer all your questions.
experiment :to carry out a scientific experiment or experiments
