As vs like Fri Sep 30, 2005 10:50 am  As vs like

The main difference is that as usually comes before a clause (a group of words with both a subject and a verb). For example: Do as I say. However, people often use like instead of as to introduce a clause, especially in American English. So, instead of saying It looks as if it's going to rain they might say It looks like it's going to rain.
