The old house, standing alone and high on the moor appears, from the outside, to be dilapidated and deserted, but within, the myriad of voices that talk and scream in the night, are those of beings long departed from this earth, for the house has had many inhabitants over the years and all have mysteriously disappeared.

Locals had an idea that they had been spirited away, or that they had just ran away, too ashamed to admit that, as they'd been told, that the place was haunted.

Each time the house had appeared for sale, the price had been reduced, but buyers were few and far between, for who in their right minds would buy a house that had never had a surviving seller?

Now it stands there, the broken windows piling Autumns fallen leaves into the dark corners of the rooms.
Spiders, ever busy, weaving their intricate webs across the arms of long abandoned ceiling lamps.
Field mice scurry across the floors, that are heavily coated with years of dust.
They pay scant attention to the screams and the banging of doors, sounds which assail their tiny ears every night, for this is their home.

Moor House, the home of spiders and mice and "others."

Some hundred metres away, silent and still, is the swamp. It waits.

Waits, has it has done for many long years, for a new buyer to appear and attempt to renovate the once fine Moor House.

It is patient. It waits, as it always has.

Thanks for the compliment, but I'll never be that good.

I just want others to give writing a short story a try. It can't be that difficult if even I can do it.

Won't you join me and try?

Hey Kitosdad,

your capability of seeing things through otherone´s eyes is what enables you a lot to write interesting stories. Jointly with your good command of the vivid speech it attracts reader´s attention and tie it, till the whole truth within your tales become uncoverred. Similar to Alan who also is able to enjoy ppl by telling amusing and exciting stories and force peoples efforts in improving their skills.

As for me I had been extremly bad in writing essays while my school time yet and all you could expect from me was somewhat the jester´s view. Hence I´m shy to make a fool of myself.

Nonetheless I like talking in your native language and improving in it. Thus I´m looking forward to reading more tales from you.

Even so, I do look forward to your first attempt. I could never write a book, or be as good as Alan, but I try to write about anything that comes into my daily life, and my night-time nightmares. :) :)

Hey Kitosdad,

as I see you do have night-time nightmares. Please don´t make me guilty providing you some day-time nightmares by not withstanding the temptation of writing down tales and short stories using my little skills in the English. It even would influence your night-time dreams. You´d never come to sleep laughing @ me. (Kaputtlachen in German.....)
