Can anyone tell me how can I know when to use which one?

He is in the house.
He is inside the house.

I've heard first one more often than the second one. Is it correct in both situation?

Hi Bulone,

Both are correct - 'inside' is a little more precise and has the idea of being enclosed in something. The astronauts are now inside the spaceship and are ready to blast off.
