exciting vs stimulating

I read a sentence in a book that is
"Learning English can be exciting and stimulating". So, in this sentence, the word 'exciting' and 'stimulating' are the same meaning or not ?

Please, explain me.

Well, the writer didn't think so. Here, 'stimulating' means 'causing one to make an effort (to achieve more, etc)'.

1=exciting or full of new ideas (not boring)

2=making you feel more active:
the stimulating effects of coffee
