Winters a'coming. #1 (permalink) Tue Oct 13, 2009 19:52 pm   Winters a'coming.

Winter appears to be looming on the horizon.
The mornings are so dark, and the warmth of Summer's sun has completely deserted us, leaving us cold and confused.

Parents scurrying to get their children into their warm classrooms being their primary objective.

In the dark cemetery the paths are waterlogged and slippery underfoot. The dogs run leash-less for fear of dragging their owners down into the muddy pools that are everywhere.

The owners walk quickly whilst showing great caution, for it is no fun to fall to the ground in these conditions.

Although I know the route well enough, even I find myself taking care on the treacherous stretches.

At long last we return to the warmth and blessed light of our large kitchen, were each of the dogs are towelled dry and given their meal. I remove my "bad-weather" clothing and tuck-in to my breakfast too.

Then I fall into my usual routine of daily paper browsing, followed by a troll through the latest postings here on the Forum.

Then comes a couple of hours of pupil English lessons, followed by lunch and a quiet cigarette.

Maybe then I will watch a film online before once again facing the elements to take my dogs for their afternoon stroll.
It is so much nicer in the daylight, but all too soon the Winter darkness begins to loom, and we hurry for home to get settled for the evening.

Today ideas for a story have evaded me. Perhaps it is the air of gloom that has preceded the coming of an early winter.

Who doubts now that the reports of climate-warming have no real substance?
Certainly not I.

Kitos.
