_______ women are requesting mammograms even as researchers find ________ cancer risks in the environment.

A) Lesser / much
B) Fewer / more
C) Most / many
D) Less / little
E) The fewest / the least

Could you explain me why the key is B?

Well, 'less' and its forms still should not be used for count nouns, according to most test makers, so that eliminates A and D. C and E are logically wrong, and 'the fewest' sounds grammatically off to me as well.
