Celta Assignment 2 - Language Related Task

Hi Everyone,
I am in the middle of doing my Celta course and I'm have a lot of trouble with the second assignment. For this assignment we have to analyze these specific parts of the following four sentences for:
Meaning, Form Pronunciation, potential problems and soulutions for Meaning, Form and Pronunciation. Here are the four sentences.

I was studying in America at the time?
... by then I'd decided that Ranjit was right for me.
We made some inquiries.
Ranjit was a good catch.

If anyone could help out in the smallest way it would be much appreciated.
Also if anyone could recommend some good sources to help me understand and learn how to do this better i would appreciate that also.

It is not entirely clear what you are supposed to do with these sentences. They look alright; the only thing that struck me was that their punctuation is odd; but that is perhaps no part of your task.

I have to analyze only the underlined parts of the sentences.
I was studying: is past contentious
The form would be: subject + was/were + verb + ing
The pronunciation would be the words spelled using the IPA, in the underlined sentence was is the weak form, ect...

I was hoping a more experienced teacher could tell me what potential problems students would have with the M,F,P of these sentences.
