Essay: Is there more need for land to be left in its natural condition or...?

In your country, is there more need for land to be left in its natural condition or is there more need for land to be developed for housing and industry? Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.

Even though population is drastically increasing in our country and as a result of that, there is more need of land for housing, industry and farming, I think it is better to preserve some land in its natural condition. Because as you all know there is a balance in environment. If it is destroyed, we all have to suffer.

For instance, If we destroy natural forest for farming, housing or industry, many wild life will also destroy. Perhaps some species will extinct. It would greatly effect for the environmental balance. Lets take bats for an example. When we cut down trees bats would not have facilities for nesting. They would not breed. Hence, there would not be a predator for eating insects who destroy our crops. As you see any impact on food chains leads to serious environmental problems.

Moreover, future generation would suffer greatly since there would be no natural sceneries to enjoy. If we use the land only for our convenience, there would be only buildings and farm lands to see. Can you imagine the life in a urban area, a lot of buildings around you? Could our young generation survive with out fresh air, green sceneries, and fresh water. No. They won’t.

We have many alternatives for our needs. We have superior knowledge to use lands efficiently. Obviously, we can find a solution to population growth and our needs. On the other hand, never we can fixed the environmental balance once it is destroyed. In conclusion, I strongly believe we have to leave some land in its natural condition rather than developing them for housing, industry and farming.
