A report -------- today by two environmental organizations found that localized pollution is the most leading contributing factor to disability and disease in communities across the world.

A) releasing
B) released
C) has been released
D) to be released
E) was released

Could you explain me why the key is B, why not C?

Hi Volcano,

what was missed in your example is the relative pronoun "that" and also since it was released anywhen today the tense must be the simple past "was" and passive. Hence your sentence should read like completed above, I´d say.

What´s more in this case in English there is the opportunity to omit the relative pronoun and also the auxiliary so that the expression can be read: A report.....released today by....
