TOEFL® essay: Choose job to improve community

Topic: You have decided to give several hours of your time each month to improve the community where you live. What is one thing you will do to improve your community? Why? Use specific reasons and details to explain your choice.

Essay:

Contributing to development of my community is a significant job. So, I usually give several hours of my time each month to improve the community where I live. I, especially, like to teach poor children how to use computer because of three following reasons.

For the first reason, knowing how to use efficiently a computer is really important to children. Children can use internet to achieve a large amount of free knowledge on the computer. For example, there is a lot of academic ebook on Internet. Poor children, who are too poor to buy book at bookshop, also discover many interesting knowledge on science and society on these free ebook. Thus my job had helped children improve their mental development a lot.

Second, I teach children how to use computer because children is the most important labor force in future. Many countries, such as America, Japan and China, have realized that the more educated children are , the more developing the community will be. According to Education Journal, American government has invested more than haft of nation budget for education per year. I choose educating children because I also realize this importance.

Finally, I teach poor children when I have free time because I like the teaching job. Teaching brings me a lot of fun. I really feel relaxed when I teach children. Moreover, teaching makes me more confident in crowds because I can know how to spread efficiently my opinion. So, enjoying happiness in teaching is a personal reason why I choose teaching.

In summary, I like to teach children how to use computer because computer is useful tool for educating children. That educating children is also to enhance the future labor force is an other important reason. Especially, I can find happiness in teaching is also a reason why I choose this job. I hope I will have more free time to do this significant job.
